I reinstalled macOS Sequoia after having toyed around with Asahi Linux yesterday. While it worked fine and was simple enough to switch between the two, I decided that I didn't want to tamper with the Mac anymore.

While uninstalling Asahi Linux, I took the opportunity to also refresh macOS so I could get rid of the three or so years of cruft left behind in its system files.

In the spirit of this newfound desire for Spring cleaning, I decided I would look into shaking up my note-taking and writing processes, to see if there's any way I can improve my creative workflow.

I like the idea of the Zettelkasten method, however I really need to look more into it and I suspect it may prove to be challenging for me to adopt, since it works better with more succinct and precise notes.

You know me, Obby*, I'm perhaps too verbose for my own good. I'm sentimental about my essay-style prose and blog-like rants. I don't need to hastily revamp the way I work, but there's nothing wrong with looking for weaknesses in my system I can improve upon.

* Obby is how I used to address Obsidian whenever I wrote these diary-style entries in my commonplace.

I finally put an end to my three-app madness, where I was using Drafts, Typora and The Archive in tandem. It was confusing and downright overwhelming, although there was method to the madness initially.

I decided that if I wanted a good experience, I would have to spend a little bit of money. I originally bought Typora and, while it’s okay, it obviously pales in comparison to iA Writer – which has proven to be exactly everything I need it to be.

The three apps I was using previously all accumulated to be a sort of all-encompassing package of what I required but… across three apps? It’s not helpful, nor useful. Like I said a moment ago, it was confusing and overwhelming.

Out with the old and in with the new, I say. I uninstalled everything else and I’m never looking back. Tags, wikilinks, macOS and iOS support – iA Writer has it all! ___ Tags:
